One Room Challenge – Spring 2025: The Mini Makeover Marathon (Weeks 1–3 Recap)

Whew. When I said I was jumping back into the One Room Challenge this season, I knew it wouldn’t be a walk in the park—but I also knew I was ready. This round, I’m tackling what I like to call my **“Mini Makeover Marathon.”** It may be a smaller space compared to previous projects, but baby…the vision is *mighty.*

Let me catch y’all up on what’s been happening so far because your girl has been in the trenches with these updates—juggling multiple spaces, some unexpected decisions, and a whole lot of trial and error.

Week 1 – The Plan (And the Bold Paint)

The upstairs hallway needed some love, and I wanted it to finally feel as finished and intentional as the built-in landing I did a while back. So, I decided to "semi-color drench" the entire hallway in Behr’s Nocturne—walls, trim, everything. That rich, moody jewel tone was already working wonders in the landing, so I knew it was the move.

But that wasn’t all.

I also wanted to update all the hallway doors, and if possible, give the pantry area a full-on mini glow-up too. Call me ambitious. Call me crazy. Either way, the vision was set.

Week 2 – The Handy Pail Plug & Real Life Slowness

Week 2 brought one of my favorite things—"happy mail" from Handy Products! They sent over some amazing products to help make this makeover easier, and I truly appreciate brands that come through when you're in the heap of project madness. (Shoutout to them for sponsoring part of this journey!)

Now, full transparency? Progress slowed a bit. Life was life-ing. But I knew I wanted to keep moving, even if it wasn’t happening as fast as I originally planned. This project is all about doing what I can, when I can, and still making it beautiful.

Week 3 – Let’s Talk Doors

This is where things got spicy—in the best way. I started working on the entry doors near our pantry, and what started as a super intricate wood panel idea turned into something simpler but still sleek and impactful. That original vision? I pivoted. And I’m not mad at it.

Part 1 of the pantry series showed the prep and first look at updating the doors.

Part 2 (which you can now watch!) dives deep into the design and install process. I took you behind the scenes from concept to execution—and let me tell you, what you’re watching in 2 minutes took me 5 hours. The DIY life is NOT for the faint of heart, but it’s always worth it.

Painting is coming next, and spoiler: these doors are now living their best lives in Behr Black.

What’s Next

Next up in this makeover series?

We’re switching out the switches and outlet plates thanks to an amazing new partnership 👀 and finishing off the pantry ceiling with some high-drama wallpaper (yes, the ceiling). I did most of that install solo and whew…I have "thoughts and lots of words."

Stay tuned for:

- 🎥 Part 3: Wallpapering the ceiling (the struggle was real)

- 🎥 Part 4 & 5: The actual pantry doors getting their own glow-up

- 🖤 Final styling and finishing touches for all three zones

Thanks for following along, supporting, sharing, and cheering me on. I’ll be updating y’all in real-time over on Instagram and on LTK. You know I love a good reveal moment, but I also love showing what it takes to get there—every paint stroke, pivot, and power tool included.

Until next time,
